Rebuilding worked, thanks. I don't think the API changed, just that it had to be built linked to the correct libraries.
Now I just need to get JavaMonitor on my other deployment machine (Ubuntu 12.04 LTS) able to start up apps on the Ubuntu 13.10 server.
