So, to answer your question, yes, I could provide a regex that would match sun.com addresses but due to the above, I won't.

Note I never said sun.com addresses, but addresses of subscribers to other
mailing lists.    Perhaps as plocher suggested, just using autogenerated
lists of contributors and core-contributors would be a start - certainly
those are people validated as useful people, not spam bots, and would
make the arc mailing list moderation simpler.
