Hi Jim,
Thanks for these additional changes and suggestions, my replies inline.

done.
In terms of what to point to, I would link to the content prep doc,
the site feature mappings, and the transition FAQ (which points to the
user action FAQ).
done.
The purpose of this feature for 10/19 is to continue getting people
ready for the change on 10/26. And then, as Bonnie suggests below, on
the 26th the text can be updated to welcome people to the new site, go
here and here for questions and resources, here are interesting
features to check out, etc.
OK, so we really need two spots, I started a draft for the 26th here:
http://www.opensolaris.org/os/project/website/content/home_page_draft37/
Also, the HowToInstructions link at the end is broken -- I assume
because it won't be there until 10/26?
No, just overwritten by the new migration this morning, should be
working now.
Thanks,
Michelle
Jim
Also, as far as helping people to find pages that have been renamed,
maybe we suggest first to go to the original URL (since it will
redirect to the new URL) and if they don't know the original URL, we
suggest they find the page on stage, then remove stage from the URL
and it will redirect to the new page?
It is a bit clunky, but it should work better than any other series
of steps I can think of.
Thanks,
Michelle

Hi,
Rather than talk generally about the "website transition", I think
it would help to be specific about the transition to XWiki.
I was thinking the text would initially note the 10/26 date as a
reminder to people about the upcoming change. Then on 10/26, the
text would change to say that the transition has happened and point
out new aspects of XWiki.
So maybe it's not really a traditional feature spot but we use the
space to remind people about the coming change and then use it to
help people get acclimated on the new site.
I'll think about some specific wording this evening.
Thanks.
Bonnie

hi ... we have 2 weeks to go before we move to the new XWiki site
at hub.opensolaris.org. I would like to request a new front page
feature for both os.org and hub.os.org starting on Monday of next
week so we can continue educating the community about the
transition. I also would like to request that the feature stay on
the site for two weeks after the migration, and then we can return
to regular updates. Things that can be on the feature can include:
an explanation about what is changing, pointers to FAQs, features,
and resources we have created over the last few months, etc. Also,
a new graphic to go along with the feature would be helpful for
getting attention as well.
Thanks,
Jim
