Anybody have any specific issues they would like to see solved before a
near-term release?

I would like to try and get this includeURL issues resolved, and a couple of
other little nits in myself. Is there anyone that is using includeURL,
callMethodOfServlet, or forward() that has not had any trouble understanding
what they did, or getting them to work as expected for more than one type of
environment?

What if we shoot for bug fixes and other issues this week. Addressing only
issues which either have had relatively straightforward patches posted, or
been recently discussed (i.e.: the includeURL issue).

Next Sunday or Monday we roll a release candidate together and create a
support branch in CVS for the release, putting the release candidate on the
home page.

We only accept direct bug fixes on the release candidate branch, no
alteration in functionality (i.e.: if we haven't already addressed the
includeURL or psp-handler issues, then we would not introduce changes during
the release-candidate phase because that has to do with interpreting what
the correct behavior should be.)

The following week, we can put up the release.

Meanwhile, after the release candidate is in, because we've branched in CVS,
we could be more aggressive about addressing some of the other issues which
may be "nice-to-haves" or may be bugs or patches that have been reported,
but have not had a direct effect on any of the developers.

Another strategy would be to pick a target release date for the next major
release, and schedule a target pre-release prior to that to let things
stabilize.

I am willing to run a near-term release unless someone else wants to do it.
But I would require some feedback and review on both the release strategy,
and what is going in at the last minute, as well as an agreement/consensus
on any further changes we might want for this release.
