The plan has been to get changes in by the end of this week, and then shoot for a beta release early next week.

Several of you have been doing some follow-ups on bugs and patches, and some miscelaneous cleanups and reviews. I wanted to thank you for doing a great job.

This is a follow up with those of you that have been looking at the CVS snapshots, as well as those developers still working on things to see where you are.

For example, Ian was going to do a review on the serverSideInfoForRequestNewAlgorithm code, and had also been doing some documentation. Is there anything you want to try and get in before I cut the 0.8 beta branch? Geoff? Chuck? Anybody else?

I have a few things I want to address, as well as removing PSPReader, and ModPythonAppServer, and updating version numbers, and release notes, and much of the other stuff in the release procedures.

At the time I cut the 0.8 beta release, I will be creating a support branch in CVS for the 0.8 release. I would like to critically examine any changes to 0.8 between the beta and final release. Limiting changes to only critical, or trivial bug fixes on 0.8 and possibly documentation updates. Anything that involves introducing more risk, or altering functionality should go on the trunk for the next release unless there is a good reason why we need it in 0.8. This way we can continue to evolve the product, but have a stable branch point for supporting 0.8 issues.

This means that it is important that if you want any thing to go into the 0.8 release, that it be dealt with before we cut the branch. Otherwise it is likely to get deferred to the next release.

Thanks again for the help in testing this, and getting this release ready to go out.
