I'm on hold doing any further investigation until a new box shows up here on Saturday or Monday (I hope). Then I'll first try OpenBSD. If this doesn't work, I'll try Debian (newest version in testing), and failing that I'll try the newest Red Hat. If all of them fail, then I'll have to do more debugging.
