Sorry for another UserKit related self reply, but it seems, that
UserKit isn't used here very much, so I'll probably stop trying to use
it as well. Nevertheless, the problem I had wasn't a bug or such,
it's just one of the many things, that aren't implemented yet in
UserKit. 

So my experiences with UserKit so far are as follows:

* Creating users works fine.
* Authenticating users works, too.
* Editing users is possible, but edits don't get saved. 
* The TODO.html is correct :)

Now my question is: Is there still life in UserKit? I mean, is this
Kit still in developement and should I try to live with the current
limitations, or is UserKit a dead end street? I don't want to
complain about anything here, I'd just like to know the current and
the planned status of UserKit.
