Ah ha, that's a log file I missed, I'll check that out.

I used the precompiled dll on a 32 bit multiprocessor install. I ended
up compiling a new one and that worked out fine, so I won't worry about
troubleshooting the other issue.

I'll post another message shortly with compile instructions, since the
README included was written for MSVC++ 2003, and that's not freely
downloadable any longer, at least as far as my search showed.
