Jim, Did you check the Customizing Guide <http://weewx.com/docs/customizing.htm>? It has an abundance of information about how to access the data. As Andrew suggests, the easiest is to specify that the report generator create another (tiny) file, with just a single tag $current.outTemp. On every reporting cycle the tag will be replaced with the current temperature.
