A would-be robber has been arrested by German
police, after Christmas glitter spray gave him away.
He attempted to hold up a lottery ticket shop, threatening
the owner with an air pistol. But the owner's wife
sprayed the assailant with the nearest form of
defence - a can of glitter spray. The robber was
so stunned he fled the store, leaving his wallet on
the counter. Still covered in glitter, he reported the
"theft" of his wallet to police and was immediately
arrested.
A man wearing a novelty Afro wig and carrying a toy
gun while returning home from a Christmas party
sparked a major armed police operation. Armed
police arrested him after reports of motorists in
Leamington Spa being frightened by him. He was
cautioned and later apologised to police saying the
gun was given to him as a Christmas present at the
party. The 26-year-old, from Leamington Spa,
Warwickshire, was arrested in the early hours on
suspicion of possessing an illegal firearm. Officers
had been alerted to reports that a man with long
Afro-style hair was pointing a handgun at motorists
on the town's Kenilworth Road.
German police have arrested a 41-year-old suspected
of killing and dismembering another man he met on
the internet. Prosecutors have said the suspect later
ate the dead man's flesh. The suspect apparently
carried out the crime with the agreement of the victim
and captured it on videotape in spring 2000. The
alleged victim, a 42-year-old from Berlin, had been
registered as missing by police in the capital, the
statement said. The suspect killed the victim by stabbing
him in the throat, prosecutors said. He allegedly chopped
the body into pieces, deep-froze parts of it and buried
the rest. He later ate much of the flesh, the statement said.
Prosecutors said they tracked down the suspect after
finding an advertisement he had placed on the internet
seeking a man willing to be killed and eaten. Police
who searched the man's apartment in the town of
Rotenburg on Tuesday found human flesh, bones
and video recordings.
