Hi Simon

You have a very good memory. Yes, six Y-reg MPDs transferred from Rhyl
to Wrexham when only nine months old to convert the Penycae routes 3
and 4 to low floor operation. There was an outcry here at the time as
the buses concerned were partially funded by Denbighshire CC for the
Rhyl - Denbigh corridor like you say. I would imagine Arriva had to
compensate the Council in some way. In return for losing these Darts,
Rhyl got three R-reg Mercedes Varios (314-6) from Wrexham which seemed
a pretty bad deal.

I would say the transfer of three of Rhyl's long-bodied Darts to
Wrexham last week is a good thing for the passengers at Wrexham as
they provide extra capacity on routes normally run by MPDs nowadays.
Whether the transfers are temporary or permanent remains to be seen.

Regards
Steve
