Follow-up Comment #3, bug #5465 (project wesnoth):

There was a recent compromise suggestion about this:
- Show the encountered units, and show the next level units the player's own
(the units they control) encountered units can advance to.
- Not showing what the enemy-controlled units can advance to would be fine,
it's a good surprise to see if the skeleton advances to a deathblade, if
you've never seen one before. ;-)

I think this compromise suggestion has the potential for both:
- Providing the information needed to plan your own gameplay (i.e. your own
units' XP harvesting).
- Keeping the gradual discovery of the World of Wesnoth an interesting part
of the atmosphere.
