Follow-up Comment #2, bug #16242 (project wesnoth):

Thanks Nils - I tried - same error - So I downloaded and complied.

This worked fine as per instructions except for some boost library version
conflicts in cmake (http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=305945) 

The error from running in terminal is shown below:

Do you know which version of pango cairo works with 1.8?
