Follow-up Comment #1, bug #22991 (project wesnoth):

Right now I would guess that the easiest way to obtain a 64-bit binary for OS
X is to use the homebrew formula for 1.12, and make sure to follow existing
instructions online so that you have 64-bit clang and build things in the
native architecture.

The homebrew formula has been tested and seems to work without any compilation
problems right now. There is a known issue where for some reason the homebrew
binary is selecting Helvetica instead of Deja Vu Sans in some cases but all
things considered it's pretty minor.

For what it's worth if you can actually produce a 64-bit OS X binary, we would
probably really like to have the instructions on our wiki, and we might even
distribute it alongside the official releases. (However I am not the release
manager nor can I speak for him.) But note also that the official release is
targeted at *all* our OS X users including OS X 10.5, so there seems at least
to be a niche for OS X 10.6+ 64-bit.
