Ahhh, what a nice topic... Here is what I personally think about it:

1) Yes, switching on fullheal for AMLA does make AMLA'd units a little stronger
since you can hope to not have to get them into a healing position this often.
*But* they do still need at least 100XP (80 if they are intelligent). That is
quite a lot. They have to at least kill 5 lvl.2 or 10 lvl.1 units, what probably
will not happen too often. Yes, it does makes units like the lancer stronger in
huge MP matchups since it is a real "one attack killer". But I do not think it
will completely destroy balancing, I would like to hear something about this
from the MP devs.

2) Such a change has some effect on balancing. The core question is: how big is
the impact? I do not think it is really big for singleplayer campaigns and it
does at least save some users from frustrating effects which lead to save+load.
Losing a high level unit is probably the main reason for people to save+load. I
don't think the effect is too big of such a change and there is probably no
reason to adjust singleplayer balancing due to this. You should not forget that
the AI does often has options to directly recruit higher level units, so the
effect is not only positive for the player.

3) This change would be KISS. How should a new player know that there is a
difference between the unit leveling from lvl.2 to lvl.3 and from leveling from
lvl.3 upwards? We have some way for players to recognise that it will not be a
full levelup, but is this enough reason to not give the units their HP back?

4) Yes, this change would strip the necrophage from its real special ability.
Though I think some option for the unit to raise its max-hp by killing units is
a whole lot better than just filling his HP. I really do like this proposal from
zookeeper, it is something different with a nice flavor.

Personally I do think that healing at levelup is a good thing. The player
directly has some sort of reward for that unit, which IMO is nice. I think it is
a good thing to keep the rules as consitent as possible, which means allowing
levelup-heal for AMLA.

Cheers,
