Sorry,

There might have been a small mishap since the main organiser was not well,
I was hardly part of the team though morale boosting very much.

Dear Okuti, you have surprised me of the family day. When Sam got accident I
thought the activity did not take place because we had also contributed but
we never got any communication and we took it for granted that because Sam
who was taking lead in organizing it had got a problem, probably it was
postponed. So how did it go?. It looks abit strange though.

President WNF & Leadership Team,

I believe members want to pay the fees actually, we just have to do thorough
mobilization and also make them see the benefit of being in this
association, everything needs promotion, selling and acceptance including us
as human beings that's why when someone says all men are the same we burst
in temper because we are being equated to each other!

I am personally willing to be of use to the association to take it to
another level and I do know we are many who want to do this, you should have
come to the family day last year and seen how passionate everyone was about
the potential we have - everyone is waiting for you to call upon them to
take up tasks and move forward with you! We have enjoyed so far knowledge
sharing through the science cafe, we have been entertained at West Nile
night and we have enjoyed family day all we need is to up the game!

That said I would like us to review the leadership structure, it could be
something like this or better;

I believe it is time for you to work with a team otherwise going the whole
mile alone may be very difficult, remember there i s a lot of voluntarism
involved. My suggestion is that you actually create a technique for
compensating each of the members of your team including you, initially may
be a small token - transport, communication and "what have you" - I will
later show how and where this money will come from.

We could have the following;

President

Overall coordination of the activities of the WNF as well as being the
legal, public relations and financial representative of the association.

Vice-President Partnership Development

This person will be in charge of the overall budget, fundraising as well as
communication with potential development partners for purposes of financing
projects but also using external technical skills where necessary.

Vice-President External Relations

This person will help you in the communication aspects, online, media and
more importantly will be key in physical communications with the community
and provide a bridge between the membership and the entire West Nile
community. The person will also be useful in creating a positive image of
the foundation and working closely with the partnership development person
to sell and promote the association to other communities.

Vice-President Membership Development

This person will assist in mobilization, recruitment, maintenance and
retention of members as well as keeping a clean record of members for the
entire association. Members may be categorized as follows;

Student member 20,000/=

Ordinary member 50,000/=

Senior member 100,000/=

Mentor 500,000/=

Corporate 1,000,000/=

This person will have to work out benefits for the various categories

Vice-President Projects

This person will assist you review project ideas, panel beat them work
together with the team and approve for implementation, will also be the head
of project coordinators/managers and will carry out periodic monitoring and
evaluation;

Projects will include those in;

1. Governance

2. Health

3. Agriculture

4. Education

5. Women, Youth & Community Development

6. Knowledge sharing

7. Social, Networking & Entertainment

8. Entrepreneurship and small business

Among others, in this way it become easier for you to move forward, the
figures above of course are suggestions, lastly with a basic plan like this
it becomes easier to motivate members to pay up and participate in their
areas of interest. In the budget you will have a provision for secretariat &
other expenses.

Regards

Richard

John,

There could have been no better time to redirect our energies than what you
have opined. When we suggested members to pay membership fees in order for
us to start a secretariat, members looked the other way. Perhaps all this is
because people have clang to one topic which in my view was educative. i.e
why Asian Students are intelligent. But I think, it is not yet too late.

Hello Brothers and sisters,

Knowldege is Power. He/she who has knowledege can change the way he/she
wants to live.

We have come from all walks of life, PhD's, Master Degrees, BA, BC's,
Diploma's, etc. The talent we have is enromous. How can we effectively
harness and use this talent? There is so much we can deliver to our
communities and solve so many problems. This can only be done if we become
effective teams.

Constructive criticism empowers people, open their eyes to see where they
did not. Destructive criticism demotivates people. People withdraw into
their safe havens. Excessive criticism paralyses the people who have the
positive energy to lead and get things done. As professionals, I would ask
those who like this style of writing to tame their language, soothe it, Look
before you Lip. Think twice when you construct your words. Read between the
lines before commending.

Big businesses and organizations like Red Cross and Rotary are run by people
like us. They have skills we all have. Only a handful have united to come
together, forgot their differences for a common vision and purpose.

I want to ask everyone to reflect on this simple questions

a) What does it take effective teams to win a game?

b) What realistic things can we deliver to our people as sons and daughters
from West Nile?

c) Shall we ever deliver anything if we are so critical, disunited and
always bikering?

d) When shall we ever deliver what we promise to deliver?

I rest my case.

Amen
