It is very unfortunate that People like Richard Diliga take this forum to
insult others! Is is very unfortunate indeed that i get a personal email from
him insinuating that i benefit from the proceeds of prostitution! Well Diliga
if men like you kept your pants in check then we would not have this vice
as economists put it where there is demand there is supply! so deal with the
demand aspect and only then can u effectively tackle the supply side AND THAT
IS MY SUGGESTION

N.B i joined this network to gain experience and contribute to our community
and not get insulted for sharing my opinion. If this is not the case then i
guess we are all in the wrong place.
have a good day!

The more quiet we keep about these problems,  the problems will continue to

Should we leave these problems in the hands of local administrators in the

My Gues is that  a doctor starts treating root causes of the disease and not

a) Girls who refuse to go to schools
b) High school drop ratios among the girls
c) High unemployment in the region
d) High ratio of poverty amongst the youth

The question is where do begin  to adress the problems?

I wish every one could have the same vision you have. But unfortunately that is
not the case. It is true Arua is doing badly as far as the morals are
concerned. One strange thing is that the people you are calling upon to solve
the issue may be some of the consumers! That makes it tricky and complex. I
would suggest that it should be beyond the councilors. Let it be a PEOPLE
oriented move. That will have more impact according to me. \

Thanks...

Subject: [WestNileNet] Prostitution in Arua Town

Dear colleagues last week i went to Arua and found that the Arua i
knew in 19990s is not the Arua of these days coz a friend invited me
for a dance in Matonge disco theque and as i was driving around former
Greed disco club i found a line of girls and when i asked who those
ones were only to be told that those are Nyama Chomas in Arua.
Please dear councillors in AMC wake up to abolish this illicit trade
otherwise westnile has the lowest HIV prevalence rate according to
Ministry of Health Report and if this is not stopped we shall not be
pround of our city again and we know that whether Lugbara,Kakwa,Alur
and Madi culturally were not involved in this business of body selling
and if these prostitutes are not from Arua or westnile please look for
ways of resettling them.
Otherwise Arua is okay with alot of developments like Prestigous KK
Plaza,OB Plaza,Crane Bank building in former pragon plot and many
others please their westnilers continue with these developments and
guard against war and diseases so that we catch up with the rest of
the country
Thank You westnile netters

Diliga, i share your concern but the biggest problem i have with this leaders
we have here is that there aim is not fight such problems but to make money.
I am?surprised?that people who leave here and eat and even sometimes go for the
ladies can not see the problem and wait for our colleagues outside to come and
site such problems.

Hi comrades, This is a serious social problem and with continued growth and
development of a society, unless we lay appropriate strategies, it can not
be easily handled. What appropriate alternatives are there for such
vulnerable groups who only have that the option of doing the odd busines to
support themselves and homes, including children abundoned
by farthers/ophans, is something to think about. It takes us back to how the
economic conditions of our people can be enhanced through other supports
like businesses, self and formal employment.

This could even be the same reason why the number of street children begging
at traffic points in Kampala has not reduced much.

Thanks

Onzoma A.
