Dear West Nilers, this is to remind you that the Hepatitis B charity walk aimed at creating awareness on Hepatitis B and raising funds to support a hepatitis B clinic in Arua will take place on 29th March 2015 starting from Kololo air strip. The president has delegated the minister of Health to represent him. A company has accepted to take a viral load machine to Arua regional hospital if only we make the clinic functional. Dear members, how can we leave this opportunity to pass when our people are suffering and being referred to Kampala all the time for these tests? The most unfortunate thing is that the director of Arua hospital has not responded positively to this call and has not confirmed attendance in this event where he is expected to give a report. I have suggested as a next option The DHO of Arua, I hope that he takes it up, otherwise we miss this opportunity.
For the charity walk, companies register at 300,000= and individuals at 20,000= all payable through pay way koisks. If you have the people of West Nile at heart, this is the opportunity to contribute towards their health. Out over 150 members of parliament so far conducted only Hon. Atiku of Ayivu and Hon Wadri Kassiono of Terego are the only ones who have responded from the regions of high prevalence. All the NRM MPs are silent and yet their boss has delegated the cabinet Minister to walk on his behalf. We need to mark these people properly as we approach 2016. They cannot be silent on issues that affect their people and wake up when their need votes from the same unhealthy population. We must put an end to such political gimmicks. Thanks Christine
