Thanks for this Craig, but the problem I have is I am monitoring in excess of 300
servers for different clients and I don't really want to have to duplicate all my
devices. At the same time I need WUG to alert immediately when say a SNMP check is
down, but not on things like disk space checks that are not so crucial, but still need
to be monitored.

Does this make sense?

Thanks

Ashleigh

There are a number of ways you can do this.

It really depends on how simple or complex you want to get.

* You can just monitor specific individual services
* You can go the multiple device route and put exceptions on it
there really are a number of ways - - what do YOU want to do? Really

For Instance

Take my email server for example.

I have three devices for it - -
Device A is monitored during business hours monitoring NIC Response,
SNMP, SMTP, WWWSvc (OWA),TIME
Device B is monitored after hours monitoring just NIC, SMTP and WW3Svc
Device C is set up to send me a page if it is down for more than 45
minutes now matter what time and all that monitors is NIC
Response/Interface

Subject: [WhatsUp Forum] Exkluding some alerts?

Hello!

I have some servers with several monitored services.
Some critical and some not so critical.
And I have two alerts , one sms and one email, on this server.

Now I want to configure so that alerts to sms only are sent when a
critical
service is down.
And I dont want to have an sms when the not-critical service goes down.

Anyone with a good idea on how to fix this? The only thing I can find
out is
to have two devices on the map for this server, (maybe one on a separate
map).

Best regards
