Those are just examples, while your recurring argument is only about WMF wikis; this bug has never been in WikimediaMessages component or Wikimedia product, IIRC. That said, sure, many of the comments here have gone off track. I don't care much about this request (I was originally against it, it seems) but I still don't see compelling arguments to reject the addition of a handful characters to core. Then, this can be closed and a bug filed for WikimediaMessages if you wish; or this can be ignored for core and moved to somewhere else.
