I strongly recommend that you take a look at the OER Handbook development --- in terms of structure, layout and presentation this is a model example in WikiEducator. I really like the way the OER Handbook has been optimised for producing a printed self-study manual. Take a look and generate a pdf of selected pages to see how this works. http://wikieducator.org/OER_Handbook/educator You can specify a print specific template for every template used in WikiEducator by adding the suffix "_print" (the "p" must be lowercase) so its easy to remove the navigation templates in the printed version of the guide. So for example {{My_navigation_template}} can be transformed into a print specific template by using {{My_navigation_template_print}}. (The print version should only contain a carriage return <br>).
