Until a true digest is created, CatScan can easily be used to get a list of the last uploaded images, i.e. <http://toolserver.org/~magnus/catscan_rewrite.php?language=commons&project=wikimedia&depth=10&categories=Images+from+Wiki+Loves+Monuments+2012+in+Italy&ns%5B6%5D=1&sortby=uploaddate&sortorder=descending&ext_image_data=1&x=x&doit=1>
