Hi Saqib, We discussed the options available and here is what we'd like to share with you:
We are open to brainstorm with the local organizers about other ways we can bring contributions to WLM, however, the general consensus in the team is that the contest's concept should remain clear and easy to explain. At the moment, the focus is on monuments, and monuments need to be tangible. If you are interested to run the contest for both tangible monuments and intangible heritage, and you want to do this around the same time as the WLM contest, our recommendation is for you to consider one of the following options: 1) You organize two competitions starting September. The first month will be focused on tangible heritage, the second on intangible (Think, Wiki Loves Traditions.). Only the images collected through the first month will be eligible for WLM. + This approach is easy to explain. + It gives more time to work out the details for the second part. - Banner fatigue is a problem you should be aware of. Using CentralNotice for 2 continuous months will result in banner fatigue, so you need to be creative in how you keep the audience engaged. - Even a month of contest is long, you can loose some of the attractiveness and uniqueness of the contest in the eyes of your audience if it becomes something that you run for 2 months. 2) You organize both the tangible and intangible contests at the same time, but with two categories in parallel. Only the tangible category would be eligible for WLM. For the non-tangible one, you can give a special prize locally. + This way, you can use the WLM brand and attract participants for the intangible component as well. - We expect the communication for this option to be confusing. One way you can go around the potential communication issues is by explicitly labeling it as "pilot". Please keep us posted with what you decide to do, and if you have questions, please feel free to reach out. :) Best, Leila, on behalf of the WLM international team.
