A lot of arbitrary deletions (and Western-centric approaches) seem to have disincentives some volunteers. At least I can speak for myself.
My conjecture is that if even I feel the Wikipedia, thanks to its many successes, is increasingly unable to reflect the diversity of our world, why should readers not feel likewise. And these are your growth areas.
