Regarding your question about why Wikimedia India is concerned, I suggest you to check the word 'India' in Wikimedia India. As a chapter of India, WMIN has a focus to involve each and every language community. I don't see any harm if the organizers of the event calls one of the volunteers. Also, you should understand that this is a community led event & we would want the volunteers to initiate discussions in their respective language groups.
