This upcoming Thursday evening (10-26), Sea Launch is schduled to launch XM-4 communications satellite for XM Satellite Radio on a Zenit-3SL rocket from the Odyssey Launch Platform positioned on the equator in the Pacific Ocean.
Launch window opens at 7:49 p.m. EDT.with a window extending to 8:47 p.m. EDT. Spacecraft separation around 1 hour after lift off over Africa XM-4, a Boeing 702 spacecraft manufactured at the Boeing Satellite Development Center in El Segundo, California, has high-powered S-band payloads built by Alcatel Alenia Space, in France for Digital Audio Radio Service (DARS) , to broadcast state-of-the-art digital radio programming directly to cars, homes and portable radios.
