In my opinion, if they put a molex connector on a SATA hard drive it is ok to hook to it. For those SATA hard drives that do no have molex connectors, why don't they? If they did not put the molex connector on the drive but used a SATA connector for power, why? You have lots more experience than I and choose to trust adapters. Until I am given good reasons as to why SATA hard drives have their own power connector, I will refrain from hooking an adapter to one. I will stick with a power supply equipped for SATA hard drives.

IIRC I previously stated that my PS already had SATA power connectors therefore I never used any adapters.

You've used 'Y' power splitters in systems before haven't you? Want makes adding the correct fitting adapter any different ?

You'll only be happy if you stick with WD SATA HDs then as they have the standard molex & SATA connections but what is one to do with the 2 SATA power connectors from the PS if it comes with them?
