At least you now have a positive confirmation of a fault condition.
Yes, that is a comfort (knowing it wasn't something I did.)
And because there was no assurance of what the problem was, I have a new power supply and P4 processor too!
Intel was no problem at all. They simply said send in the old processor and they would send a new one. They were great as was the power supply company (supplied with my Aspire case.) Both were very accommodating and I had new parts very quickly.
