running XP-Pro w/ auto-update enabled
Yesterday I was doing some otherwise routine maintenance and I decided to
delete the files on my Maxtor One-Touch USB drive that I use for backup and
start over with a new series of backup files. I had reformatted and all was
fine. Then I was trying to delete the files from a backup that had started so
I could get a completely fresh start. Windows wouldn't let me have access to
the files, indicating they were either in use or read-only; neither the case
from what I could tell. But, I could see the drive, folders, and files. So,
I rebooted and the drive had vanished. It still has power; the USB cable seems
firmly connected on both ends but the drive doesn't show up. I rebooted in
safe mode and it still didn't appear.
I realize this isn't very much info but it's about all I know. I'd appreciate
any suggestions
