Daniel,

This is most likely the result that your IE browser may have its multimedia and
graphical options selected
in the Advanced Configurations Tab.

In IE goto Tools | Internet Options | Advanced Tab and since you have a very
slow DUN connection you don't need all of the multimedia and graphical options.
Disable options:

Under Browsing subgroup disable (uncheck) these items:

Display a notification about every script error
Enable Install On Demand (Other and Internet Explorer)
 Enable page transitions
 Enable third party browser extensions
Enable visual styles on buttons and controls in web pages
 Use Passive FTP

Under Multimedia subgroup disable these items:

 Enable automatic image resizing
 Enable Image toolbar
 play animations in web pages
 play sound in web pages
 play videos in web pages
 show image placeholders
 show pictures
 smart image dithering

Enable : Don't display on-line media content in the media bar

When done shutdown IE then restart IE this should speed IE up a bit under a DUN
connection.

When downloading a web site with a large quantity of information (e.g. my on
line banking), many times I get the "This page can not be displayed." page
with the additional infomaton of
"The page you are looking for is currently unavailable. The Web site might
be experiencing technical difficulties, or you may need to adjust your
browser settings"
even though I can see via System Monitor that the page is still downloading
at maximum rate. When I try the second time, it usually loads completely.

I have a very slow DUN, i.e. 24K. I have configured IE to use "check for
newer version of stored pages - automatically" so it does not load the same
infor again.

To stop IE from assuming the page is not available, do I increase the
"keep-alive" setting in the registry or is there something else I need to
do?
