I use exclusively -R disks & Princo 4x for data backup & Ritek 8x for video
backup both of which can burn at 16x with the 3rd party firmware

external & the 108 internal altho I seldom press my luck that far as I
usually burn them at 12x. I've had a few problem videos that I've burned
successfully at 4x instead but for the most part 12x is fine with Ritek 8x
disks.
