Well, under win98 I used to save a link on the desktop
simply with the command File | send | shortcut to desktop
and the shortcut always worked. I do *exactly* the same
under win2000 and I receive an error message saying that
there is no program associated which is very odd since
IE6 is part of the OS and it's working properly;
Sounds like to me that you have NOT edited the shortcut as Win2k & Xp have
more than one send to folder as well as more than one desktop folder.
More than likely the folder paths that you need are "C:\Documents and
Settings\Your Username\SendTo" & "C:\Documents and Settings\Your
Username\Desktop" but there are others under "C:\Documents and Settings\All
Users" & "C:\Documents and Settings\Default User" so you see the path that
you use to use in 98 is no longer valid.
