Yes searching for files on your PC is a real nightmare but it doesn't have to be that way I usually store all of my downloaded files in one place C:\My Documents And Settings\Downloads and my personal documents in C:\My Documents and Settings\ which is encrypted for security's sake of course ;). This way I wont have to hunt down that file that I've would have to find bacuse I'll always know exactly where it is.

Why not just "My Documents" like 98 uses ? For that matter it could be just "MyDocs" or "Docs". This forcing multi-user & networking on people that could care less is ludicrous. MSFT doesn't need something as stupid as Bob but they also don't need anything any more complex then necessary for the home luser. They ought to have a stand alone version, and a multi-user networkable version of their OS. It's more than apparent that MSFT does NOT subscribe to the KISS principle. Heck even today it doesn't bother me if somebody wants to put 98se on their system as opposed to anything else as it has always been very stable & most apps that come out today are compatible with the exception of Office 2k3 which most lusers don't care as Office 2k2 [I mean XP (another fubar in naming if you ask me)] is more than sufficient. Heck most lusers could use Open Office for what they need an Office app for & IMNSHO MSFT has abandoned the individual in favor of corporations. (I was going to write Corporate America but there ain't no such thing any more).

The MSN Desktop search bar is there for people who still have no idea of where they place their files and how to search for them. Microsoft claims that this serach tool will make it easier (which can be debated in itself) but I think not becuase it only adds another layer on top of both IE and Windows XP which they in fact both have built-in search tools already there in place.

Again they've screwed up again. I tell everyone that I know to turn "indexing" off in XP as it slows things down yet that is the same tech idea that MSN Desktop Search uses. Then when one goes to uninstall the POS it forces you to reboot & doesn't even give the user a choice just like the fact that one can NOT turn off the MSN Search & use only the tabbed browsing part but rather you are forced to use both. Don't they know that screen real estate is too valuable? Heck I have my address bar on the same line as the menu & small logo to save space now.

FWIW the more I use FireFox the more I like it & can see why IE may actually be in real trouble this time not that MSFT has rested on it's laurels too long or anything. ;-)
