Now, on my bar I have a black box with the yellow radio signals
eminating from the center.
This is the icon for the Sound Effects Manager & you should have the same
icon in your Control Panel.
Does that replace the original volume control??
No. That is for speaker configuration & Graphic Equalizer & etc.
When I right click on it and then click on volume control, nothing
happens. There is no other setting for volume control for the
mike.
It seems like I am back to square one, no?
Sure sounds that way. ;-) I've seen this many times. This occurs when the
manufacturer only installs the default settings of Windows & does NOT tweak
the install settings.
Go to Control Panel/Add or Remove Programs
Click the "Add/Remove Windows Components" on the left hand side.
Make sure there is a check mark in front of "Accessories and Utilities"
Now click the "Details..." button in the lower right hand corner.
Now click on "Multimedia" & the "Details..." button again.
Whala. You should see
Subcomponents of Multimedia:
Media Player
Sound Recorder
Volume Control
and I would bet dollars to donuts that the check box in front of Volume
Control is unchecked.
Make sure you have your Windows CD handy as it will ask for it then click
OK all the way out.
Didn't you say you don't know where you Windows CD is ?
Borrow one if you have to & for this as I doubt you have to have the exact
same version that you have installed on your machine but please let me know
how you make out especially if you use a borrowed disk because I don't
recall if I've tried this with a borrowed disk or not in the past.
