The point of the post was that Winzip will no longer be free after a period of 21 days wether or not if anyone uses i. I use WinZip and PkZip either or if I choose to use it.

Oh I thought the point was that Vector Capital was hoping to turn WinZip around to a money making proposition like it has with Corel. There is a difference between what you're saying now & what I thought you were pointing out.

I have the last free version of WinZip 9.0 before it went play or pay.

I always thought WinZip was shareware that one was suppose to pay for & that's why I've not used it in ages. I thought it was too much money for too little product & I certainly didn't want it adding to my context menus. Because of WinZip I feel that many apps try to add to the context menu & it makes it a real pita to clean up on some users machines because they always take the defaults like a lost sheep.

Otherwise if you don't want to pay then use another zip utility of your choice.

Thank you I will & if many people feel the way I do about it then Venture Capital won't have a chance at converting the company into a profit making machine. How they think they can make money when MSFT & so many others give archiving utilities away for free is beyond me. The nix command line utilities work great if some one wants to zip or unzip from with in a script file as well. ;-)
