It's only ones with ports 139 and 445 open... and a patch was released a week
ago. While I can't necessarily fault people for not installing a week old patch
(a month, then it's a user problem) - having those ports open on the firewall
is inviting trouble.

There are also reports that laptops infected when off the network are bringing
down the servers - I have no sympathy in this case either. Any company that
doesn't secure computers that are used on other networks deserves what they
get.

Yes, I was watching a CNN news program while I had the computers off due to
thunderstorms here on the east coast of the US and they said there have been at
least 125 major companies, including CNN itself and Caterpillar, reporting
serious problems. Also reports of it showing up in Germany and Asia.

Symptoms apparently are continuous rebooting, which of course, makes it a bit
difficult to get a fix downloaded/installed.

>From the news program, apparently so far the only OS impacted is Win 2000 but
>they said several variants have already come out.

Y'all mind the store; I have more storms coming through shortly...
