Hi Jim,
What operating system is your computer using? I am typing this on my
home computer which is running Windows 2000. Under Windows 2000,
1. go to device manager.
2. Expand ports, com and lpt.
3. Choose the port on which your modem is installed.
4. Go to the properties for that port.
5. Go to the "portsettings" tab and make the change in the flow
control combo box.
You should have put the string. The string sets modem timeout values.
I forget exactly what the s7 and s10 registers controlled but the
connection does not drop as much.

Actually, I think I answered incorrectly. It said it was located at
PCI Slot 3. After all these years, I still don't know PCI from
Serial <smile>.
I was able to add the extra string, but couldn't find where to set
the other setting.
Should I have even added the string?
Thanks,
Jim
