Buying it before trying it??? Chuck! I swear by Nero and never had a duff CD or DVD (or coaster) but it depends on what you want to do with it. Now I fid all my needs are taken care of with "MagicISO" and Alcohol120% with DL capabilities. I assemble my image using MagicISO - save it and burn as many copies as I want with Alcohol120%. However this is alright for DATA which is what I record CDs for - Auto repair manuals, DTP fonts and other data stuff. Music and DVDs are a slightly different matter and I would still plump for NERO as, like you, have a bad taste in my mouth after being fouled up by Adaptec/Roxio in the past - they lost the plot a long time ago and tried to regain the market with the purchase of cquadrat or something sounding similar (still available and apparently very good) but NERO is still way ahead.
