OK, with satellite TV and an HDTV capture card, I can connect my antenna
and get a few local HDTV stations.
What's this about sending output to a TV?? The output of the capture card?
Won't it be HD?
I was saying that you do NOT have to send the output to a boob tube.
And if it is, can I play it on my non-HD TV?
No because your STV [standard tv] or ETV [enhance tv] can NOT handle the
add'l lines of resolution that the HDTV capture card would be putting out.
And why would I do that if I get the non-HD versions of those channels
from the satellite?
So you could watch the HDTV signals on your computer monitor which only
saves you the price of tube capable of handling HDTV resolutions but if you
have a fairly modern monitor you should be able to display the HDTV signals
there instead.
Even with all this one can NOT capture HDTV from satellite unless you buy
an HDTV PVR from DirecTV & they cost approximately $1000 at this point in
time & that does NOT include installation. Even with the HDTV PVR from
DirecTV afaik one can NOT redirect the output to a computer for editing or
shrinking to say a DVD like one can when they capture HDTV via a capture
card from an OTA antenna into their computer.
