Not sure what you are asking here. If I read you correctly my CRT
display with output from MyHD looks quite good & that's one way
people can get a relatively inexpensive HDTV set is to watch the
broadcasts on their monitor instead of spending the big bucks on a HD
ready wide screen TV. I can & have watch captured programs on every
computer screen that I have in my house via streaming mpeg video
[*.tp (streaming transport)]. The specs on almost all monitors these
days can handle the output quite nicely except for maybe the cheapest
low res monitors. Whether one connects from MyHD to a CRT directly or
streams the programs via a lan makes no difference but with a lan the
program will be slightly delayed but most of my friends that have
these deliberately wait til say 8:15pm to watch the 8pm programs so
they can skip the commercials as the MyHD does real time timeshifting
which is the ability to rewind live broadcasts. If one displays
across a lan using an app such as PowerDVD or VLC (virtual lan
client) then they aren't actually running the MyHD app anyway because
you're taking the resulting video & sending it across the network
after MyHD has at least partially saved the show.
Does the MyHD card work with CRTs as well as flat panels?
MyHD can output to CRTs, DVI or an HD ready TV. With the correct
adapters you can output to a CRT or DVI & a HDTV. I've actually sent
2 outputs to my HDTV with one being the Windows Desktop & the other
being the show that was being broadcast. The latest version of the
MyHD card will even do unscrambled Cable as well but mine only does
OTA [over the air] broadcasts only. ATM I don't have a CRT hooked up
to the system that runs the MyHD card & app in it as I have the app
in my StartUp folder. If I want to make configuration changes I run
[EMAIL PROTECTED] into the machine. One can see the Windows Desktop & run apps
this way but you can NOT see what the MyHD is broadcasting this way
altho that is not a problem. There are also apps out there that let
one strip free space from the streaming video & let one convert it to
mpeg2 so you can put the video on a dvd. I can put a 1 hr programs on
a DVD only if I strip the free space out & edit out the commercials
but I effectively have a HD DVD when I'm done.
When I purchased MyHD it was advertised as not being able to do real
time timeshifting or DVD playback but this is something the
manufacturer has added to the software later with great results. Also
one can program record via a website such as
<http://www.titantv.com/>. It's really simple as you browse over to
the website to see what's on the tube that evening then just press
the red dot in the corner of the tv listing & you're done providing
you set the site up for your recording device & of course MyHD is
fully supported.

If all you want to do is to watch the HD video on your computer
monitor you may want to get a FusionHD card instead as they are about
$50 cheaper. They've gotten great reviews as well & also have threads
at avs forums about them. The MyHD card does NOT meet Windows XP
Media Center Edition specifications primarily because it's completely
self contained & the video is sent out via the card itself & not via
your video card where as I believe the Fusion card does. This may
have changed since I looked last so don't take this XP MCE part as
gospel. It wasn't important to me either way. The MyHD card can run
on Win 98se systems without tons of memory as well so one can pop one
of these in a old machine.
I'll be glad to try an answer your questions on this the best that I
can but the real experts are at avs forums. If you sign up there
please make sure you read, read & read some more before asking
questions as many there don't take kindly to nOObs that don't try to
help themselves first.
