That makes it take even longer than the /F switch. Actually, I'd recommend running the manufacturers diag on the drive first, then doing chkdsk /R, IF the drive passes the manufacturers test. The test may say there are bad sectors, do not have it repair, let chkdsk handle that. If it doesn't say the drive itself it defective, you should be fine running chkdsk. If the drive fails the manufacturers test, I'd recommend immediately did a bit by bit ghost image of the drive (tell ghost to ignore bad sectors) and then try a chkdsk /R. -- Harondel J.
