define strange looking - if $NT... KB123456$ - those are updates and i
generally delete them a few weeks after they are installed if drive space is
premium.
While us oldies can remember when every byte counted this doesn't
yield much space by todays standards. I have 51 of these kinds of
folders & they only take up 311 meg. I have 6 [drive]:\windows\
subfolders that are completely empty that don't have a $ & I suppose
I could delete those as well since if the folder isn't there when an
app needs it I assume that it'll recreate the folder.
We don't know why he wants to clean out folders tho. If it's just
because they bother him then by all means delete all windows
subfolders starting with a $ but if you're wanting to make a clean
backup then you'll want to consider deleting the TIF [temp internet
files] "[drive]:\Documents and Settings\USERSNAME\Local
Settings\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5\" & the user's temp
files at "[drive]:\Documents and Settings\USERSNAME\Local Settings\Temp\"
