Di, all I can offer is empiric evidence. I use a LinkSys WRT54G router, both wired and wireless. It is located about 2 feet from my main desktop and only 14 inches from my laptop. I have noticed no interference or other adverse effects, either with these 2 machines or the other 2 permanent LAN members (1 wired and 1 wireless). When the daughters are at home and on the LAN wirelessly with their laptops, still no problem.
While my router/AP is not sitting exactly on top of a computer, it is VERY close to both of these. I must admit that when I first set this up I had similar concerns to yours, but this has been working fine for around 22 months now. Only way to know for sure is to just hook it up I guess... - Bill Hatcher [EMAIL PROTECTED] - -----Original Message----- From: Windows Home/SOHO [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Behalf Of Diane Poremsky Sent: Thursday, April 06, 2006 18:54 To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [WINHOME] Bad idea to put wireless AP on top of a computer? the range isn't the problem - it'll be within 15 ft of the old location. I'm concerned about interference from the computers. -- ---------------------------------------- WIN-HOME Archives: http://PEACH.EASE.LSOFT.COM/archives/WIN-HOME.html Contact the List Owner about anything: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Official Win-Home List Members Profiles Page http://www.besteffort.com/winhome/Profiles.html
