Surely this has to be a case of a conscientious engineer taking the time
and trouble to replace a bad fan ! In my experience fans rarely last
more than 12 months, and the heatsink is barely or not adequate without
one. Although some video cards have a good heatsink and no fan. If I
have a choice I would go for the fanless version every time.
Unfortunately most of the higher end cards all seem to have a fan
fitted.
I find that if a system gets blown out every 6 to 12 mo then the fans
generally last 2 to 3 yrs but what I hate is when the clients let the
machines get so hot that you could fry an egg on the case before they
decide maybe I ought to call some one then wonder why it costs so
much to repair.
