I have a Freecom Classic 80gb external USB 2 hard
drive. It is recognised by my computer but when I try to back up my HD
into the Freecom using Norton Ghost 2003 Ghost says it cannot find the
image file 'BACKUP.GHO' (which I can see on the external drive, using
Explorer) and
that I may need to load additional drivers to access the drive.
My operating system is Windows XP Pro which does not require any special
drivers for the Freecom. I can copy files into the Freecom from my computer
without any problem and I have another external USB2 40gb HD (Smartdisk
Firelight) with which Ghost works well. Any suggestions please on how I can
use my Freecom with Ghost? TIA.
Some external drives do need drivers in order to be seen in DOS mode.
You could boot a BartPE or XpPe CD with Ghost on it & I'm sure that
you could see the external drive & the GHO file. I bet Windows is
loading the necessary drivers for you for that drive.
