OK. I know that it isn't a TIVO and this is free but sooner or latter
it won't be and that's the reality of bringing multimedia to the masses
on the internet. Internet multimedia Companies (although very few if ever do)
can't simply survive without charging a fee of somekind or licesing since these
shows are copyrighted
anyway. And like all the media conglomerates such as AOL and
Comcast and the like you can be sure that people will be charged for
streaming media IMHO.

I'll refere to the links below still.

What services? You're recording from OTA [over the air] or un-encrypted cable.

>or will they cost you a normal monthly sub price?

There is no monthly fee for OTA now is there? This is NOT a TIVO but
rather a PVR [personal video recorder]. Heck even my cable company
provides a PVR & the fee is only $1/mo & that's just to pay for the
120g HD & mpeg board or chipset.

This topic has come up several times in the past & I almost always
refer people to <http://www.videohelp.com/> &
<http://www.avsforum.com/> but it's sadly apparent that you haven't
chosen to do the research before commenting.

As Carl has stated there is no charge for you to record to VHS & one
uses OTA signal or un-encrypted cable to record the tapes. The same
applies if you buy a capture card because you use the same input signal.
