I have three computers (DAD, MOM and LAPTOP) connected using a
switch. All three access the net via Satellite through the switch.
I have set up a small office network on each computer, first just using
Windows and then using Network Magic.
However, MOM & DAD cannot access LAPTOP (\\Laptop is not
accessible error message.).
At one time (before the LAPTOP) I had four computers running on a
home network). So, the problem, I think, is in the DELL laptop.
All computers are using WinXP-Home SP2.
1. From DAD when I click on My Network Places all I see are icons
pertaining to DADs (probably a setting somewhere). Then I click on
"view network computers" and I can see all three. HOWEVER, I cannot
access LAPTOP. I get \\Laptop is not accessible error message.
2. From MOM, when I click on My Network Places all I see are icons
pertaining to MOM and DAD (again, maybe just a setting). In order to
see LAPTOP files, I have to click on Entire Network, MsWindows
Network, and finally MsHome. DAD nor MOM can access LAPTOP.
3. Ah, but LAPTOP works as it should!!!
To the best of my knowledge I have all the permissions set
correctly.....and all set the same.
Any idea where I might have erred?
Thanks a bunch!
Jim
