This is why I said "you pays your money" !  FWIW  I regularly use one of 
these devices !  However I do not run it continously for long periods 
of time !  Its usually a case of plug it in,  backup data, unplug it,  
stick it back in its container/draw whatever.  I must confess that I 
used a 4Gb portable tape drive the same way for long enough.  I still 
have the tape drive, but have not used it for two or three years now !!  
A hard drive in a USB case is so much quicker and just as reliable !

Before anybody says that a tape is more reliable, I would agree, 
however......  Time is money !  Anybody that has had a duff tape will 
tell you.  Even worse a drive that doesn't write anything to the 
tape !!  No error messages, Zilch nothing.  I am not bald, I promise.  
But I know sysadmins that are.............!!
