Try the motherboard manufacturers site for that particular motherboard's
drivers,
  but beware of 'special' models created just for that 'OEM shipper'

If you cannot find the drivers, then another option is to find a cheap sound
and video board that will plug in - but make sure you have motherboard
config details

Thanks for the response. This is an old Win 98 machine. We have the
recovery disks that came with the computer, but the disks do not
recognize the computer as an HP Pavilion.

no restore cds suppied to install a clean OS? If yes, look for an i386
folder (if XP), you may be able to install the OS from there. It may be
that the OS has been upgraded so much over time that the CD no longer
recognises something, OR the hardware has been upgraded with OEM stuff.
But to be honest, that level of PC is dirt-cheap to buy now
