Have you looked into giving the "everyone" group access to the
printer, and allowing "everyone" to access your computer over
the network, via the security policy that I mentioned? I'm
not positive that will solve your printer sharing without a
password problem, but from what I recall that's what worked
for me.

This has some info. on default security settings:
http://www.microsoft.com/resources/documentation/windows/xp/all/proddocs/en-
us/windows_security_default_settings.mspx?mfr=true

It has a section on Windows 2000 to WinXP upgrade issues as
they relate to the ANONYMOUS_LOGIN user, which is something I
ran into before doing a full system install, and resetting
ownerships.

I disable SFP because in our house different users may use the
same PC. On my PC, I have home finance files, and work files
and want to keep them well away from my teenage daughter and
her friends. She has a limited account also, with all the
usual irriatations that brings along. Also, I like to
selectively share folders such as family photos and music
across our internal net, and for that I prefer finer grained
control. There is a place for ACL's even in a fairly simple
home/office setting.
